Product Overview

The Video Quality Analyzer VISUALmpegVQA, as a part of the complete MPEG stream analyzer product range VISUALmpeg, offers several measures for video quality and covers the detection of a broad range of video distortion and quality degradation. VISUALmpegVQA can be used as an automated analysis system for codec quality analysis. Checking your MPEG and H.264 file quality thereby becomes an automated, easy to use process with clear reporting functionality. The system works without knowledge of the original signal (no reference system). This feature offers the advantage of analyzing any encoded and received stream without making use of the source signal. Using extensive video quality assessment algorithms, the VISUALmpegVQA utilizes MPEG stream parameters as well as the decoded video signal. Main feature of the quality assessment unit is the video MOS (Mean Opinion Score). VISUALmpegVQA analyzes an MPEG stream and provides a mean opinion scoring. The scoring correlates highly with the subjective impression of the viewer.

Analysis Features

- Blocking detection
- Black and error frame detection
- Temporal complexity
- Spatial complexity
- Frame freeze events
- Bit-rate statistics
- MOS (Mean Opinion Score) rating

VISUALmpegVQA can be used for:

- optimizing quality of MPEG / H.264 Codecs
- detecting bad sequence parts automatically
- finding the correct codec and parameter settings for best video quality
- detecting bad encoded frames automatically
- measuring and comparing quality of different Encoders
- measuring and comparing quality of different MPEG / H.264 Files
- understanding how the different Coding Parameters (Bitrate, Gop Size, Quamtization,..) influence the resulting quality
- saving time during codec comparison (since multiple files can be analyzed automatically)
